3. SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION AND

PRODUCTION OF CLOTHES

• To buy sustainable clothes, these labels are important:

The EU Ecolabel means that the clothes are durable and

were produced with less harm to the environment

The Global Organic Textile Standard is similar to

the EU Ecolabel but has even stricter standards and

pays more attention to theconditions under which the clothes were produced

• It is important to know that also for clothes there are many more labels in each country. It is also helpful for the

environment to pay attention to clothes of durable quality and regional products, because this reduces the

consumption of energy for the transport. Also buying used clothes seconhand is sustainable.
